Biography

About
Dr. Haridas

Dr. Sharad Haridas is Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist at The Winslow and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (Psychiatry). He is registered as a specialist in psychiatry with both the Singapore Medical Council and the UK’s General Medical Council, and has extensive experience in general psychiatry, substance misuse and behavioural addictions.

After qualifying in medicine at KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research, he completed foundation training in the UK’s Northern Deanery before moving to London for psychiatry training on the Charing Cross and Royal Free/UCLH schemes. He became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2015 and completed specialist training with an endorsement in addiction psychiatry.

As Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist at Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust, he treated the full range of substance and behavioural addictions alongside general adult psychiatry. He also provided medical oversight for clients in residential detox and rehabilitation with UKAT, one of the UK’s private addiction treatment providers.

His clinical work covers depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychosis, insomnia, stress-related conditions, ADHD and autism, and complex trauma including PTSD. He has particular experience with complex dual diagnosis, where mental health conditions occur alongside substance use or behavioural addictions.

Between 2017 and 2019, Dr. Haridas was an honorary researcher in psychedelic research at Imperial College London, serving as study doctor on an EEG–fMRI study of the effects of DMT on the human brain; he co-authored the resulting paper, published in PNAS in 2023. He has also served as an honorary lecturer at UCL Medical School and mentors psychiatry trainees. He is a member of the organising committee of the Asia Pacific Behavioural and Addictions Medicine (APBAM) Conference, and spoke at APBAM 2026 in Singapore. His interests include emerging treatments and the neuroscience behind them, gut–brain health, and the role of sleep, nutrition and routine in mental and physical health. He is a Fellow of the Clinical TMS Society.

At The Winslow, Dr. Haridas oversees transcranial magnetic stimulation within the 16-week programme, as part of its neurorehabilitation pathway.

“For those working at the intersection of addiction psychiatry and neuromodulation, it is both an exciting and a cautiously optimistic time.”
